Under a Full Moon

I wrote this last night after walking home from my parents house where I'd hung out for the evening watching the Steelers' last preseason game. Hope you enjoy.

I walked home alone in the dark. No, not dark. The full moon light up the narrow road clearly enough to not even bother with my dangling flashlight.

Why was it that the cool stillness felt both welcoming and dangerous? Maybe it was the soft sad howl in the distance, or the chuckle of a raccoon in the nearby woods, or the strange reaching silhouettes drawn on the country road by the swaying trees. Peepers, crickets, an owl. All easily identified sounds. And others nos so easy. The whole of the valley seemed alive.

Deserted, stalking, creepy. But it wasn't. No matter the sounds, or the stillness. The walk was a familiar one. It was home.

Now, I've been a busy girl. Summer is coming to an end and I'm nowhere near ready to let it go. :) But then I never am. But in the meantime, between work on a driveway, a bridge and more repairs to the shack... I've of course been writing and editing and all the things that go along with it. Sometimes those things are super fun.

Such as this new cover for the newest Steel City Vampires Story: Bound and Determined. I freely admit I'm no cover artist, but this cover is one I did myself. So what do you think?
