For some reason heroes came to mind. Hunky, delicious romance heroes. And it was like a neon pink sign started flashing in my head... SEXY. SEXY. SEXY. Blink, blink, blink. Susan Andersen heroes, Kresley Cole heroes, Sherrilyn Kenyon heroes...the list goes on. What makes these men sexy? Is it their attitude? Is it their masculine appeal?
So I mentally leafed through a bunch of heroes, hello boys, and came up with a few ideas of my own. What makes a man sexy?
Confidence – I like when a man knows what he wants, knows how to do something, take care of something, when he's confident. Even if he doesn't know how to save the day, he's confident that he can do it and he'll die trying.
Protective – Let's face it. We don't live in a time where women need to be “protected and/or made honest.” There are female cops working right along side the men. Mostly, we live in a pretty civilized world here in the US. But I still like it when a man is protective...which is probably why we like romantic suspense and paranormal so darn much. Those are stories that speak to all that's feminine in us...taking us back to a time of the knights...when women really did need protecting. Now I'm not saying a woman can't kick butt with the best of the men. I'm just saying, is it really that bad of a thing for the guy to walk closest to the street? To keep an eye out for danger?
Smart – I like smart, cunning men. I like 'em well read and experienced. I like a man who can speak on various topics, perhaps speak a few languages, knows something about something. You know what I'm saying?
Tidy – I like a man who's orderly. Who knows where his stuff is. I like a man who keeps his closet clean as well as his kitchen. It shows that he respects himself and his things and perhaps there's a good chance he'll respect me. Plus, here's hoping he keeps his fingernails trimmed which...yeah, that's sexy...especially to my more tender parts.
Smile – Yes, a man's smile is sexy. Especially if it's seductive, mysterious, and a whole lot naughty. That sort of smile that whispers “you have no idea how good it's going to be, do you gorgeous?” Yep...definitely sexy.
So...in your opinion...what's sexy? Spill it! I wanna hear it.

ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm the odd one out, but to me it's something less definable that make a man a sexy hero. The truth is that the guy could be the opposite of every heroic ideal and yet... if he gave his girl "the look" he would be IT in my books. You know what look I mean. The one look that says, he's in love, he'd give anything to make his partner happy. That she matters more to him than he does. That look right there is sexy no matter who is wearing it.
So what is sexy? true honest deep everlasting love is sexy.
